WebMay 30, 2014 · My current "road" bike is a Gunnar Crosshairs cyclocross bike with skinny rubber. When you put wider tires on it and head off-road, you find that for control you need to be in the drops (I'm normally on the hoods like 90% of the time), and that feeling of being so far over the front wheel isn't comfortable at all when it gets steep.
